Mirta Gomez

Mirta Gómez received her early piano training from her mother in her native Cuba. She continued her musical education at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Juilliard School in New York City. Ms. Gómez' recent performances include recitals at the Leo S. Bing Auditorium at the Los Angeles County Museum in Los Angeles and previously at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City , the Noon Concert Series in San Francisco, California and at the Colony Theater in Miami Beach ,Florida and most recently in Ontario , Canada. Ms. Gómez' international tours have included performances at the Grand Theatre de Genčve, Switzerland; Hochschule fur Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, Germany; Civic Center Auditorium, Monterey, California; and the United Nations Concert Hall, Town Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall, and Merkin Hall in New York. Additionally, she has performed in a private recital for Mayor and Mrs. Giuliani at Gracie Mansion in New York City and she has appeared in a televised performance at the Conservatorio Nacional " Lopez Buchardo " in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Ms. Gómez will be touring throughout Spain & Portugal for the 2011 -2012 Season. A dedicated champion of both Cuban and 20th Century Music, Ms. Gómez was honored by the internationally acclaimed Cuban composer, Tania Leon, who wrote SATINE , a work for two pianos, especially for her. She recently lectured in Guadeloupe in French at the Conference on Cuban Composers of the 19th and 20th Centuries. She has been a Visiting Professor at Universities in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Portland, Oregon and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and at the Graduate Center City University of New York . She is schedule to lecture and perform at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Ms. Gómez has appeared in a film documentary directed by Ivan Acosta, " How to create a Rumba ", which was shown at the 2001 International Film Festival in New York City . And most recently at the Woods Hole Film Festival in Cape Cod in the film “ Fourhand “ . She has also performed at the Grand Bay Club in Key Biscayne, Florida. In the year 2002, Mirta Gómez presented a private lecture - recital for the Fundacion Esperanza of Mexico that took place at the Cohen's Residence and was interviewed on Mexican television for the program " Espectaculos " on TV Azteca, Mexico.

She also presented lecture - recitals on Latin American and American composers as well as performed Solo recitals that included the standard repertoire and 19th and 20th century Cuban composers on a four month tour of the Americas. Ms. Gómez recent performances include her Recital Debut at the " Chutzpah Festival " in Vancouver, Canada, as well as performances in United States and Europe. The summer of 2005 , Mirta Gómez made her Debut at "Tel -Hai Festival " in Israel . She also performed at the " Steinway Artists Concert Series " in Miami , Florida. Mirta Gómez is the recipient of " Artists International Piano Competition 2005." Her official Debut at Carnegie Hall was on May 21st , 2006. She coached on several occasions with Madame Alicia de Larrocha in Barcelona , Spain. She also has been selected for the 2005 & 2006 Editions of " Who's Who in America ". Mirta Gómez is a Steinway Artist .

Ms. Gomez joined the Piano School of NYC faculty in 2005.
