Christian Coleman

Drummer/pianist/composer Christian Coleman hails from Nebraska where he taught many pianists and percussionists privately as well as writing and instructing various drumlines and percussion ensemebles throughout the state. Christian studied jazz piano with Tom Larson at the University of Nebraska before moving to Colorado and studying percussion performance with a jazz emphasis at the University of Northern Colorado.

He moved to New York in the summer of 2009 after playing on cruise ships for ten years. Since Christian's arrival in New York, he has been steadily gigging throughout the boroughs, bringing his elegant sensibilities to the groups of Steve Blanco, Pat O'Leary and Amanda Monaco. His debut album, 5th St. Stoop, will be released in September and features Coleman's original compositions interpreted by a quartet that includes famed Australian saxophonist and Art Blakey alumnus Dale Barlow.

Christian enjoys teaching children and audlts of any level, and is looking fotrward to bringing forth his love for music to many new students at the Piano School of NYC.
