Born and raised in Monaco, Monte Carlo, Valerie Lam Van started learning the piano since she was 5 years old at the Académie de Musique de Monaco Fondation Prince Rainier III until she was 17. She won many local and regional competitions while pursuing her studies. She presented the Monte Carlo Piano Masters in 2000 and 2001.
Her family moved to the USA in 2006, and Valerie was transferred to Duluth, GA for her senior year of high school. She continued her Piano studies there, and played the piano for the Duluth High School orchestra.
Valerie continued her Piano training while doing her Bachelor's in Biology at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. She has become a church musician for the Portsmouth Christian Church and Park Place United Methodist Church in Norfolk, VA. She is now doing her Master in Science in Music Education at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY.
